The Magicians Meaning of the Symbols.

The Magician tarot card

 The Tarot Magician symbolizes the man (within) with all the powers needed to accomplish any task necessary to accomplish your goal, he's certainly a handy man to keep in touch with, his raised hand symbolizes his ability to communicate with the heavens, his left hand points down to symbolise his ability to bring heavenly forces to earth.

The Table represents the alter of human potential, on the table there is a Wand, a Cup, a Pentacle and a Sword.
The Cup represents the element of Water. Water symbolizes matters of the heart, our inner emotions, dreams and feelings.
The Wand represents the element of Fire. Fire symbolizes our spirit and inspirations, our willpower and egos. The latter two inspire our need to be creative.
The Pentacle represents the element of Earth. Earth symbolizes the physical aspects of our lives, finance and physical matters come into force here, along with our home life and physical security.
The Sword represents the element of Air. Air symbolizes our spirituality and our logical thought processes. Problems can sometimes arise when our minds try to work overtime because this can cause us to come to the wrong conclusions, this often leads to the bitter strife we sometimes have to endure in our lives.

The flowering arch the magician stands under represents one of natures sacred places.

The Snake (or serpent) eating it's own tail, called a ouroboros, symbolizes continual rebirth and the everlasting cycle of life.

The Lemniscate is the figure eight above the Magicians head, it symbolizes infinity, forever, the never ending power of pure energy.

The White Lily symbolizes purity and humility. The red Rose is a symbol of passion, the ones above his head are symbolizing the Magicians passionate desires.
The Magician wears a red robe of passion and action over a white undergarment which symbolizes innocence and purity.



















The Magicians Correspondences and Associations.

The Magician tarot card is associated with rune Mannaz, this rune is appropriate because it represents the subconscious union between the heavens and the earth, it is Man in all his gore and glory, it represents knowing oneself and having great perception. The Magician uses the tools of his trade to bring the secrets of the Heavens down into his own realm.

In a romantic love reading the Magician has a passion rank of  23, this is not bad but would suggest the use of ones cunning and resources will be necessary to gain the love of the one you feel an attraction to, remember, the other cards in a spread will tell you if this is possible and how to go about it.

The  Chameleon is an animal that changes its looks just as the Magician will often change his spots and turns from someone who may help you into someone who will trick you, when this happens the results can be disastrous. Make sure the Magician you meet along your journey is a helper and not a hinderer, chameleons also change there nature to suit their needs.

The Magician and Mercury go together, Mercury represents the exchange of information, just as the magician brings the secrets of the heavens down to his own material world. When Mercury is not in its element it can be telling us of evil and trickery, again just like the Magician. Mercury can represent a link between the material world and the soul.
